Join Us for a Town Hall Meeting on Underage Drinking

All parents and high school students in the community are invited to a Town Hall Meeting on Underage Drinking. Sponsored by Sanford School and our Home & School Association, the evening will feature a student panel and a panel of experts including a Superior Court judge, a New Castle County police officer, and an emergency room physician. Sanford Sophomore Wins Scholarship for German Summer Study Program

Maura Gay has been awarded an all-expense-paid summer study trip to the Federal Republic of Germany. Maura was one of approximately 26,000 students who competed for the study trip by participating in a nationwide German testing program administered by the American Association of Teachers of German. Maura will travel to Germany this summer to participate in the three-week program which includes study in a public school and excursions of cultural and historic interest.

On Sunday, April 20th, Sanford School will participate in Power Up Gambia Festival & Energy Day at Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington. The Sanford display will showcase a variety of student projects including a solar oven, junior solar sprint cars, and solar city models. Power Up Gambia is a region-wide effort to increase awareness about renewable energy while raising funds for the installation of solar panels at a hospital in The Gambia. Sanford School Mourns the Loss of Nancy C. Sawin

Nancy Churchman Sawin, Sanford's second Head of School (1962-75) and daughter of Ellen Quigley Sawin and Sanford Wales Sawin, founders of the school, passed away on March 18 after a long illness. She was 90 years old. Her involvement in Sanford School and its predecessor school, Sunny Hills, spanned 78 years. She is survived by her brothers, Phil and Bill, and her sister, Marnie. Sanford Scores With the Delaware Wrestling Alliance

The Delaware Wrestling Alliance has recognized the following students by naming them to Academic All-State teams: Chris Bobbitt and Brian Nachbar were selected for the First Team. Trae Humphreys and Brice Struthers received Second Team placements. And, receiving Honorable Mention honors were Tommy Rogers and manager Caroline Kramer.

Sanford Senior Honored for Outstanding Musical Talent

Lauren Bond recently competed in the first annual Solo and Ensemble Festival at St. Andrews School. During the event, which was sponsored by the Delaware Music Educator's Association, Lauren won top honors and was selected to perform in the Winner’s Circle Recital. In addition, Lauren was first chair French horn at All-State Band and All-State Orchestra this year. During the band concert, Lauren was featured in a piece conducted by the composer who gave her many accolades regarding her fine performance.
