Elizabeth (Liz) Perry has been invited to sing at the Inaugural celebration for Delaware Governor-Elect Jack Markell on January 21, 2009. In addition, Liz has received an Honorable Mention award in the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) youngARTS competition. Approximately 6,000 young artists took part in the competition which included entries in voice, dance, instrumental, visual arts, acting, and photography. Liz’s award, in the voice category as a soprano, places her in the top 5% of all 6,000 applicants.

Coaches for Sanford’s student-athletes have released their holiday practice schedules. Days and times are subject to change. The Home & School Association will host Caroling on the Quad this Friday. All Sanford families and employees are invited to take part in the event and to bring a pair of mittens for donation to a local day care center. Following the caroling celebration, refreshments will be available in Quigley Dining Hall. The Upper School’s Global Citizens club is hosting this event to raise funds for a service trip to the Dominican Republic. From March 22–27, club members will help to build a school in the village Consuelo while learning about the culture and needs of a developing nation. All profits will be used to purchase construction supplies and materials. Ring in the holidays with Sanford’s bands and choirs. The Middle School Holiday Concert will be held Tuesday, December 9th at 7 p.m. The Upper School concert will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 7 p.m. Lower School concerts will take place on Friday, December 19th, with the JK-Grade 1 event beginning at 8:45 a.m. and the Grades 2-4 concert getting underway at 11 a.m. All concerts will be held in Geipel Gymnasium.
