After School Drama Program Coming to Sanford

Beginning in January, Stage Door at Sanford will offer acting and musical theatre training to young people in grades 2–12. This after school drama program is open to all in this age group, including students outside of Sanford School. Space is limited and will be filled on first-come, first-served basis. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday

The faculty, administrators, and staff members of Sanford School wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. During the holiday week, all three divisions and our offices are closed November 25th, 26th, and 27th. On Friday the 27th, the girls’ basketball team will host a play day in the Sports Center. Teams participating in the event include AI DuPont, Avon Grove, Cape Henlopen, Hodgson, Kennett, Padua, Polytech, and Smyrna. The play day begins at 9 a.m., with the last game scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Middle School student recognized for writing

The Paralyzed Veterans of America recently named eighth grade student Maya Ram as a semi-finalist winner in the Grades 7–8 category of the Sixth Annual Veterans Day Essay Contest. More than 850 essays and posters were submitted nationwide. Maya’s essay is now posted on the organization’s Web site, www.pva.org. Congratulations to this outstanding writer.

Science club sets world record in Punkin Chunkin competition

The Upper School science club, Project Beyond, set a new world record in this year’s Punkin Chunkin competition in Bridgeville, Delaware. The Sanford trebuchet, Sanford Slinger, came in first place by launching a pumpkin 852.34 ft. The team’s launch set a new world record in the Youth Trebuchet division. Congratulations to the members of Project Beyond.

Sanford students win music competition

Senior Maddy Gondek and sophomore Cara Tozzoli recently won awards in the Music Teachers National Association vocal competition for the state of Delaware. Maddy received an honorable mention in the competition, and Cara received a first place award. Last year, Cara placed first in the state for All-State Chorus. Congratulations to these outstanding performing artists.
