Thirteen students named to All-State Chorus

Congratulations to the following students who were selected for this year’s All-State Senior Chorus: Shannon Babcock, Olivia Blythe, Owen Davis, Asia DeShields, Emma Heberton, Erica McGaurn, Nick Madden, Chris Malafronti, Emily Malafronti, Mary Mecca, and Cristina Riegel. Kudos also to Junior Chorus members Jack Mecca and Sophia Teixido.

Middle school student honored for writing

For the third consecutive year, a Sanford middle school student has been recognized in the Paralyzed Veterans of America writing contest. Eighth grader Ana Sarmousakis’s poignant and creative essay has been selected as one of ten finalists from more than 1,000 nationwide entries. Click here to read Ana’s piece.

White commits to George Washington University

Anjaleace White recently signed a national letter of intent to play women’s basketball at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Anjaleace received a full basketball scholarship and will be attending GW beginning in the fall of 2012. Anjaleace, captain of this year’s girls’ basketball team, was instrumental in leading the Lady Warriors to back-to-back championships in 2010 and 2011. Kudos to SRTC

The Sanford Repertory Theatre Company delivered an outstanding performance of Lend Me a Tenor November 4th and 5th. This hilarious comedy, which consisted of a chain-reaction of mistaken identity, farcical plot twists, and double entendres, showcased the extraordinary talents of our performers and stage crew members. Senior named semi-finalist in writing contest

Phoebe Hering was recently selected as a semi-finalist in the Norman Mailer High School and College Writing Awards for Creative Nonfiction. Phoebe submitted a riveting essay, titled “Mischling,” detailing her belated discovery of her part-Jewish ancestry. The Norman Mailer Center and Writers Colony and the National Council of Teachers of English jointly sponsored this program.
